Approaching soon on May 17-18, the CGS UK and European Qualifying Event and Draft will take place at the Omega Sektor Arena in Birmingham, England. Gamers from throughout the UK and across the Continent will compete for spots on the four regional CGS teams. The General Managers from the Berlin Allianz, Stockholm Magnetik, London Mint, and Birmingham Salvo will be on site, evaluating players that have what it takes to be part of the first international professional gaming league. On Saturday evening, the GMs will announce the Franchise and Protected players after the tournaments are completed.

Registered contenders will participate in exhibition matches in the four official games for the CGS 2008 season: FIFA 08, Counter-Strike: Source, Forza Motorsports 2, and Dead or Alive 4. There will also be competitors in the first CGS tournament in Call of Duty 4.

Players will be vying for spots on the teams, as well as 35,000 euros in prize money. COD4 competitors are up for £10,000. On Sunday, GMs Ben Woodward (London Mint), Jonas Alsaker (Berline Allianz), Michael “ODEE” O’Dell (Birmingham Salvo), and Emil Christensen (Stockholm Magnetik) will select their rosters for the 2008 season. Their teams will head to Los Angeles in July for the UK/EU Championship, and will have a chance to battle it out with the world’s greatest gamers at the CGS Grand Final.

The first CGS season was truly revolutionary. The UK and European qualifiers took place at the same venue and consisted of a week's worth of tournament play and challenge matches. A pre-draft among the UK players determined who would advance to the final draft in London. As will occur this year, the European players were drafted at the Omega Sektor event.
